GETTYSBURG AR

Working on the Gettysburg AR project gave me experience in several important areas key to finishing character models and helped to round out my skills as a technical Artist. My team was commissioned by the Gettysburg foundation to make an AR tour experience for the park, showing key points of the Historic Battle. My team focused on the battle of Little Round Top and the real life story of the Artillery General Steven H. Weed. For this project I worked on two characters mainly, the project was supposed to be a multi semester undertaking, but the project was cut before we could really even get started. Our goal then became to get a working AR app that could showcase the artist work and the time our programmers spent. To save time we decided to purchase several Civil War characters for the internet. I was tasked with Modeling new heads for SHW and a confederate soldier, Retopologizing the original models, UV cutting and texturing and finally rigging and painting skin weights. In the end I reduced a 17500 polygon model down to 7400, reducing it by more than half. I also made engine ready rigs for Unity and got more detail into my final textures by using baking and alphas.
